About Us

We are Spiders for Ukraine, a community that has kept growing since summer 2022. We are an international group of volunteers committed to aiding Ukraine. We hand-make camouflage nets which are then sent to those fighting for defending democracy and freedom in Ukraine.

So far, we have depended on fabric donations, but this has become a bottleneck to the number of nets we can produce. To continue providing the nets - which are desperately needed to protect those fighting for defending freedom - we are fundraising to purchase more material and support multiple weaving sites.

Fabric donations and volunteers are welcome and encouraged. Fabric should be of natural colours: beige, brown, black, camel, olive, dark green, dark grey, and not contain synthetic materials which could melt when exposed to heat or fire.

We use gardening anti-pigeon nets as a basic and striped fabric of mixed selected colors to make a proper net. One location in average can produce 1-2 nets per week that are then delivered to Ukraine by ground transportation. It takes about a week for the whole way of travel. We receive photos from Ukraine as a confirmation that a net is on place. Volunteers often add a note on a postcard, or a little gift and it is so heartwarming to see these little items on photos sitting on a top of nets as a gesture of appreciation and ties making.

As you see, the soonest is two weeks for a net from the moment of the netting started to the final point delivery, so we are always dependent on the number of volunteers in our efforts to make more nets.

More nets are more protected lives. Isn’t it amazing that being in Scotland, you can dedicate a few hours of your spare time and directly contribute to saving more lives in Ukraine!

Netting builds communities, and we together create our own events and participate in the locally organized ones as a community.
